The action-comedy Sankranthiki Vasthunam, starring Venkatesh Daggubati, has been a massive hit since its theatrical release on January 14. The film has already collected over ₹150 crore in India, while its worldwide earnings have crossed ₹200 crore. Due to this overwhelming success, the film’s OTT release, initially planned for February 2025, is now facing a delay.

OTT Release Postponed to Extend Theatrical Run

Originally, Sankranthiki Vasthunam was set to premiere on a digital platform in the second week of February 2025. However, with the film still drawing large crowds to cinemas, producer Dil Raju is reportedly reconsidering the OTT release date.

As per recent reports from OTTPlay, Zee5 had acquired the movie’s digital rights for ₹30 crore. Despite this agreement, discussions are underway to push back the streaming release. The primary reason for this move is to allow the film to continue its impressive box office performance without any potential impact from an early OTT debut.

Audience Reception and Box Office Growth

The film has resonated with audiences due to its engaging mix of action and comedy. The storyline revolves around a suspended police officer, played by Venkatesh, who finds himself entangled in a high-stakes kidnapping case. His ex-girlfriend, portrayed by Meenakshi Chaudhary, unexpectedly joins him in the investigation, which leads to further complications involving his wife, played by Aishwarya Rajesh, who eventually steps in to help.

Interest in Sankranthiki Vasthunam remains high, with the film reportedly earning ₹10 crore on its 13th day—an impressive milestone for this stage of its theatrical run. Given this continued success, the producers aim to maximize the movie’s box office potential before transitioning to an online release.
