A racist rant cost Lobbyist Courtney Johnson her job, and she was fired from the Alpine Group when a viral video revealed her engaging in a racist text conversation in a Washington Capitals hockey game. Alpine Group, her employer, is a bipartisan government affairs consulting firm and it immediately took action and fired Johnson after an internal investigation.

The viral video reveals Johnson texting a man named Jimmy and talking about race, education, and assenting action.

Courtney Johnson Dismissed After Racist Texts

The conversation suggested that Black students from the economically underprivileged sections of the society are unable to excel in studies because of their limited travel experience as compared to the better off whites.

The conversation turned even more controversial with Jimmy responding with the take that White World was welcoming to the Blacks, and also cited the CIA’s role in the CIA’s role in Black communities and targeted abortions. Courtney Johnson responded and said abortions do not target persons but Blacks have a higher risk of pregnancy because they have multiple sex partners.

Jimmy also stated that Blacks get admissions to colleges easily due to their poverty, to which Johnson responded and said that colleges strive for diversity and hence do not accept us.

However, what followed would have most sane persons squirming in their seats when Jimmy stated that he wants to kill blacks and commit genocide. Despite the obnoxious comments by Jimmy, Johnson continued the conversation and did not attempt to stop Jimmy.

Courtney Johnson worked in the position of Principal with the Alpine group and headed its healthcare practice. She is registered as a lobbyist and her high profile clients included AWS, Leidos, Lyft, and Amgen. The viral video online provoked a backlash and led to her firing.

Alpine Group’s Statement

“Following a thorough internal inquiry, Courtney Johnson’s employment has been terminated, effective immediately, due to conduct inconsistent with company policies and standards. The views expressed are deeply offensive and inconsistent with our firm’s values and culture.”

Alpine group facilitates clients to navigate Congress, the White House, and federal agencies and has distanced itself from the whole controversy. Courtney Johnson’s name has also been removed from the firm’s website, which lists its consultants.

The incident has snowballed into a major controversy with many social commentators condemning it as racist and obnoxious. Social media users are also condemning Johnson for not reacting to Jimmy’s racial diatribe and contended that her silence meant that she agreed to the views.

Users are also asking for accountability from persons who make such crass and racist rants without any fear of consequences.
