Staccato Pulls Tim Kennedy Ad Amid Backlash Over Alleged War Story Fabrications

The popular gun brand Staccato has deleted an advertisement featuring former Green Beret veteran Tim Kennedy after he was accused of fabricating and exaggerating war stories.

The allegations started flying thick and fast after the Antihero Podcast released multiple episodes dissecting Tim’s book Scars and Stripes.

To buttress their claims, the podcast also featured three of Tim Kennedy’s former teammates from the infamous Battle of Firebase Anaconda.

Staccato Removes Tim Kennedy Ad Following Backlash

The gist, in a nutshell, is that all three former teammates negated the story propounded by Tim Kennedy.

The former team specifically disputed Tim’s account about the deployment of a thermal device, which was allegedly used to shoot enemies if they had a weapon and a heat signature, even if they were not involved in any firefight.

However, one of the ground force commanders, Travis Worlock, stated that nothing of this sort ever happened, and if it had, it would fall under the purview of a war crime for killing a non-combatant.

Travis also refuted a statement made by an attorney for Tim Kennedy, who claimed that such an event did occur.

However, Tim faced further embarrassment. The popular gun brand Staccato, touted as one of the best manufacturers of handguns in the world, released an advertisement on Friday featuring the former Green Beret.

However, after a huge backlash, the company realized that it had made a monumental mistake and attempted to make amends by deleting the advertisement. But it was too late—the internet had already captured the ad, and it soon went viral.

Staccato tried to limit the damage and released a statement apologizing for featuring Kennedy.

It also reiterated that Kennedy was never an employee, brand ambassador, or paid influencer of Staccato.

The full statement is as follows:

“Tim Kennedy is not and has never been an employee, brand ambassador, or paid influencer of Staccato. We collaborated on this single campaign, and we understand it was in poor taste. The campaign that we started rolling out this week was intended to poke fun at our industry and all the characters in it. One of those characters was intended to be a ‘bro vet,’ and we believed Tim Kennedy would be perfect for that role. These decisions and shooting took place prior to many of the stories that have come to light in the recent weeks and months. We understand it was bad judgment to continue to move forward with Tim Kennedy as planned. We heard you, and we apologize.”
